Transforming an Outdated Kitchen into a Modern Farmhouse Oasis: A Kitchen Remodel

Our clients are the best.

We love sharing all of our home projects and favorite textiles, but we are even more excited to start sharing some of the projects that we have collaborated with clients on. If you’re new here or missed the “get to know us” posts, we both work for Heritage Builders in Manhattan, KS. Whitney is the design consultant, and I am the marketing manager. Our jobs afford us the pleasure of getting to know so many different people, with so many different styles. What’s not to love?

Today’s post is for our client, Linda. Linda has a great sense of style and came knowing what direction she wanted to go in. She loves the modern farmhouse style, but without a major remodel (which her husband told us would not be happening lol) we would have to select options to blend with the rest of her home. We love a good blend!

Let’s check out the before…

As you can see, the feel of this kitchen is an outdated traditional kitchen and was far from the modern farmhouse oasis Linda was wanting.

The lament tops and framing of the cabinets are a tad dated. This is a smaller space, so lightening up the look will help keep it from feeling so congested.

The over-mount sink, cabinet pulls, and golden oak laminate flooring add to the areas that were in desperate need of an update.

I cannot stress to you enough how this just didn’t fit with Linda’s style. She is all about fresh, clean lines, and is very of the times.

The Selections

If there was something that Linda was dead set on, it was this Bedrosian Cloe tile which was just launched in 2018. This type of tile has gained enormous popularity and we can see why. The subtle variance in the whites keeps it interesting while also not becoming too busy or overwhelming. Our clients chose a half bond lay and white grout to keep things clean and simple.

The flooring chosen was a luxury vinyl tile by Paramount Flooring, RigidCORE in the color Select Natural. LVP flooring are a great value, not only because of their longevity, but because the cost is much less than that of a tile or hardwood while still creating a similar look and feel. This swatch of the flooring does not do the actual color any justice. Just wait, you’ll see what we mean.

The sink is an undermount by Blanco in the color cinder. These sinks are notoriously easy to clean and absolutely withstand the test of time.

For the faucet, this pick from Delta is a great fit for this perfectly polished kitchen.

I refuse to share the photo of the quartz picked. The online photo does the final product no favors and I don’t want you to judge it before you see it, because it is gorgeous. The quartz tops they picked are Santa Giana White by Sarto.

For cabinets a line from David Bradley is the final pick. The Denali frame of the doors in the color Frost are sure to help brighten the small space.

The Reveal

Told ya! A huge difference from start to finish. The space is brighter and much more inviting. We loved working with these clients to help them create a space they are going to be able to enjoy and show off for years to come.

Thank you for following along on this modern farmhouse kitchen update journey with us! We hope you enjoyed the transformation and were inspired to bring some of these elements into your own home. Don’t forget to check out some of our other kitchen renovation projects and leave us a comment to let us know what you think of this makeover!
